Has anybody had trouble with these leaking?

I was wandering if I should have mine flared at all.

Has anybody even bothered to have them flared?

Also, I can't seem to find the seal/grommet that goes in the F-Panel where the alum pipe goes in? Am I suppose to use the regular Alum Panel Foam Seal and rip the foam off or did FFR send a small peice without the foam?

Thanks,
TAZ

Use the small clear plastic edge trim in the F-panel hole.

Flaring the tube prevents the hose from sliding off under pressure, not for leak prevention. I have heard of at least one that came off, so flare it somehow- hammer, pliers, or take to a muffler shop if you want it to look professional, but who will see it once installed?

I just used 2 clamps on each end. Only 1,100 miles so far but no leaks. I didn't care for the white trim from FFR and used black door edge trim from Autozone around the opening.

I put five or six rivets on each end, hasn't come off yet.

I welded a bead of aluminum around the ends of mine and it has worked fine. If you can't find your edge guard go get some door edge guard at any autoparts store. It will work fine and you can get it in colors if that floats your boat.

Just in case you're confused about this rivet thing, DON'T rivet the hose to the pipe. Just put some rivets (6 or 8 should do) around the end of the pipe very close to the end. I actually used rivets and aluminum washers. Now jam the hose over the rivets and make sure you get another inch or so of hose over the pipe beyond the rivets. The clamp will hold the hose against the pipe for sealing purposes, and the rivets make it impossible for the hose to slip back.

2 years, 2,000 miles, no leaks. I didn't rivet or flare the end.

2 trailer balls, one mounted on something solid (suburban or truck) one BFH and the aforementioned pipe, puts a nice flare on. Just do it when things are not going real well and it works as psycho-therapy as well. Never had one leak.

One more thing. After the first run we go back and tighten every clamp. For some reason all them need a little extra after they have been warm a couple of times.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner.

I like Richards Idea the best. I should have thought of that myself :D

Although I was tempted to go the rivet route (and thanks for pointing out that you just riveting the pipe and not through the hose) When I first read it I thought Ozona was nuts, then I thought about it and realized what he meant.
