Couldn't find the info in my shop manual: On a small block Ford (302) does all the oil flow through the filter, or is some of the pressurized oil from the pump diverted to the filter with the remainder pumped to the bearings?

I just installed a new oil cooler and thermostat and I was just wondering.

Ford 302s use an oil relief valve in the oil pump amd incorporate a full flow filter. Oil under pressure flows through the filter to the main journals, connecting rods and cam bearings. If the residual pressure is too high thru the main flow path of the filter it bypasses by overwhelming the oil pump pressure relief valve, located in the oil pump.
