Howdy All,

I'd like to through an Engine Install Party Saturday July 6th (yes next weekend not this coming weekend.)

I'm pretty much done with my engine and tranny clean-up process and I'm anxious to get it put in.

I'm still waiting on my Bracket and Pulley Kit, Oil Pan, Valve Covers, and some Gaskets to come in but I'll be ready to install next weekend.

I'll supply the Food and Soda's.

BTW, I've got an Engine Hoist but no load leveler if anybodies got one.

I got a leveler you can use, but it's all the way up here in Waco. If you got any body passing through, etc. let me know. Let me give you a couple hints before you start. (1) Flight test your hoist to make sure you can get the engine alllllll the way back into the engine compartment. While it worked ok on the donor, the FFR engine sits a lot farther back. My home-made hoist was about 12 inches two short and with only my 80 lb, 82 year old dad helping me, we got the engine/trans "hung up" about 80% in and I became desparate and elected to saw off the front body mount 3/4" square tubes (which I later re-welded back with additional bracing material) rather than risk dropping the motor on the floor or my dad. (2) Make sure you hang the leveler sufficiently low below the hoist lift arm. It can look ok in the level mode, but when you start lifting the motor, the back end of the leveler can hit the lift arm and (3) because of #2, you want to hang the leveler with the crank toward the car, else it will also hit the hoist lift arm. I did do one thing right, I elevated the car on blocks with the front wheels off. It made sliding under to guide trans and motor mounts easier. Good luck.

TAZ,

I'm already committed to helping Damian at the body shop, putting on his body tomorrow. That will be from 9:30 till whenever (we have to install everything so that the final fit and finish can be done).

What time are you guys doing it at?

Duane,

It's not until Next Saturday :D

Anyway I'm thinking starting around 11am. Give everybody enough time to get some rest from the work week.

Kenny,

I appreciate the offer, but I think we can handle it. I believe 4 people are showing up. Bill, Galt, Duane, and Joe (and maybe a friend from work.) Besides that would be a good 1.5 hr drive. If you want you can still come though. I'll send an e-mail with the info. just in case you want to take your car out for a ride.

I'm simply going to use the lifting chain I borrowed from Autozone (I thought they had load levelers, I guess not.) Anyways I think we can use some muscle power to get the angles right and drop it in with 5 of us.

Hell I put the Flywheel, Clutch, Press Plate in (then took them out to put the aluminum plate on first and put them back on.) And bolted the tranny up by myself Wednesday night. I did have my wife hold a breaker bar on the Harm. Balancer Bolt while I torqued the Flywheel to 75 ft lbs though.
