I have a Perma-Cool Electric Fan controller part #18907 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRM-18907/. The controller is wired up to a 50a relay. My 302 has a 160 F thermostat. The electric fan turns on a 190 F and off at 160 F.

My problem is when it my temperature gets around 188 F it rapidly turns on and off the relay and fan until it gets to 190 F. This normally takes about 30 seconds. It does the same thing when it is turning off from 162 F to 160 F. I am worried about burning out my relay or fan.

Is there some way to wire this system, so that the first time the relay is thrown in one direction the system is fully on or fully off?
