you guessed it, painless wiring, my harness is laying out on the floor and labeled all wires so i can identify them easy. there is a round aluminum blocker in my parts, do i use that to cover the hole in the front of the footbox and drill a hole in that for the painless rubber grommit, so i can run the front and engine wires? next, there is a hole in the drivers side tunnel, whats it for? do i just cover that with a blocker that was supplied? what is the best way to run the rear wires, through the cockpit or under the car? do i want the rear wires in the trunk or just run them underneath the trunk? i think thats enough questions for this thread. the more i look at the wiring the easier it seems, i hope im right. more questions to come, thanks guys, vince

Vince, you can use the gromet as you stated for the front hole. I ran my wires through the upper 3/4" tube to the front of the car so the wires are hidden from view. I ran the rear wires through that driver side hole and then back to the trans tunnel to the rear of the car. I used the black wire loom that came with the car for the rear wires and bought some smaller loom for the engine wires. Hope this helps. Chris

John/427sc,

Is that the stock distributor? I was wondering if I have to replace that switching to carb setup.

Vince:
I used the blockoff plate along with the Painless grommet to run everything that wasn't dash related out the front of the footbox. I ran the stuff going to the rear out and down the front of the x-brace and then to the rear inside the 4" tube. I wish now that I had run the rear stuff down inside the footbox and then into the tunnel. I also should have run the minimum wires to the nose inside a 3/4" tube as has been suggested, with the engine wires out the side of the footbox using that smaller hole. My routing resulted in a fat harness that's unsightly and difficult to hide, although I'm working on it. My advice, based on hindsight, is not to run any wires out that big hole in front. If you don't want to drill out a tube to use as a conduit, then punch your own hole in the front of the footbox alongside the 3/4 tube below and outboard of the master cylinder and follow that tube to the front.

Vince - it is the stock duraspark distrib that came with my crate 351, I cleaned it up a bit and painted the cap with some high temp red

I ran the front wires inside the 3/4" tubing, but if I did it again, I would just run them along side. You could easily cut a hole and use a grommet in the aluminum panel that goes above the pedal box - closest to the body, like Joe suggested

If your going carb, all you should need is some type of ignition box, Like an MSD and coil

I believe the four inch round block plate is for the transmission shifter hole. You only need this if you are using, I think, TKO tranny. THis trans has the shifter more towards the front of the car.
