Well, I made my first visit to the dyno today. I must say that the numbers weren't quite as high as what I had hoped for. Before I reveal the results, how about some guesses. Here is my setup:

-Stock 302 bottom-end
-Perfomer RPM heads (1.90" valves)
-Perfomer RPM intake
-Holley 670cfm Street Avenger carb
-Ford F cam
-Ford 1 5/8" headers

Dyno was a Mustang.

Results: 250HP @ 5750rpm & 259# @ 4250rpm

I think everyone is gussing with-in the ballpark. Mustang Dynos tend to be greedy. So... my guess is 255rwhp, but I'm sure this combo is worth more than that.

The setup is similar to mine. 235-340 rwhp @ 5700 rpm on a mustang dyno.

As I can see, I wasn't the only one expecting a little more. The dyno guy was a 5.0 Ford guy and he thought the results were definately in the ballpark of where they should be. Comments?

The Mustang dyno tend to read a little lower than some but those numbers are pretty realistic. You can get some gains by going to a better cam, (ford cams have vertually no overlap), and some carb and ignition tuning.

After tuning the carb mine was 225 rwhp at around 5800 rpm on a mustang dyno. You have better flowing heads then me. 250 for your engine makes sense.

It has been my understanding that Fords Cams (E,B,F, and X) and designed for Short-mid lentgh Runner EFI set ups. So running a carb with these cams is not the optimal choice of cam.
