There was a recent thread about that. The general consensus was "use it as a frisbee, and aim at the dumpster"

Sorry... I beg to differ. I see it as a safty device. Althgough we typicaly do not drive in the rain we will all get caught sooner or later. The Dust shield is more of a splash shield. With out it you could lose brakes TEMPORARILY!

If you have the SN 95 spindles you can put them on later if you want just take off the caliper and rotor and the holes are right there. You could probal=bly use short little bolts instead of the rivets with the rotor still on. But it might be a PItA. I left mine off. I never drive in the rain or snow...

I didn't read the comments on them in the earlier thread so I went and bought them from Ford. For the pair they were $65 and looked much better than the donor ones that were bent up. I almost took them back after reading the thread mentioned before but I put them on anyway. It's your call...

I put mine on the roadster for no other reason than they were on the donor. I figured that Ford is in the business of making cars for a profit so if they weren't needed they'd save a few bucks and not put them on. I can't give you a definitive reason for the need but if it's good enough for Ford it's good enough for me.

Cut them down to the shape of the spindle arms. Wanted to keep the bearing seal. Besides, I needed an excuse to play with the plasma cutter. :D :D

i got mine from the dealer, $8 each, one of the cheaper things for the car, i por-15 them and used stainless nuts and bolts to attach them. i figure it will help keep the dust down. oh yea , that is the front only, didnt see a need for the rear. vince
