I have tubular control arms on my B&B. I want to grease the ball joints. I purchased a grease gun. First one I did, grease came out of the boot, and I had a hell of a time getting the zerk fitting off. Any suggestions?

Never really greased before.

Thanks,
Tom

Not an expert on greasing but it doesn't sound like anything abnormal. Grease coming out of the boot proves the zerk functioned properly. If grease came out between the zerk and the grease gun fitting then you potentially didn't get grease into the joint. The grease gun fitting normally "snaps" onto the zerk. With a new gun and a new ball joint, the connection could be tight and might require a little tug to disconnect.

As long as the gun is lined up straight with the Zerk, the jaws will grip firmly to hold it on. When done greasing, angle it off to the side and the jaws will release the zerk fitting.
