I could not find a tread on this so here is my post.

I need to install the drive shaft and wanted to know what the spec is for the spline lubrication and the lubrication on the outside of the yoke. Do I need to use something special or just AOD fluid.

Thanks.

Yoke lube

B:

If it's a T-5 or AOD the splines will self lubricate from the inside when you drive. When you first install the yoke put some transmission fluid on the splines, yoke and seal before you slide the yoke in. Use thread locker on the rear end flange bolts and torque them correctly.

I've always used ATF the for the seal area and the splines, because that's what the lube will be when it's in operation.

It depends on how long it will be until the vehicle will be in use. If it's as long as mine was
(3 years) I would recommend a lube such as white grease, or wheel bearing grease. I always use molybdenum disulfide on metal to metal contact like splines.
