Do you need to register the donor in Florida prior to tearing it down? I've heard both sides to this, but nobody I've asked has ever built a kit before.

Joe, I never heard of any such requirement. Doesn't make any logical sense, since many donors COULDN't be registered(wrecks, junk parts bought from salvagers, etc.) Just keep all your receipts and paperwork regarding the way you acquired your donor, should any questions arise when you register your finished FFR. From what I've heard, most counties are mainly interested in getting tax $$ from you on the price of the kit!

My kit turned out not to be a kit because the kit manufacture didn't make my frame. It then becomes a made from parts car and you have to have them run the vin of the donor car frame to see if it was stolen. My kit sits on a Corvette frame.
