Trying to renew a junkyard rear end to replace mine that has a bent housing tube. Wasn't planning on gutting the diff but I dropped a C-clip and it disappeared into a cavity under the pinion gear. I spent about 6 hours trying to retrieve it. Finally gave up and removed the pinion and gear set. If your removing c- clips, make sure the diff is horizontal as if it was in the car. Mine was nose down on jack stands and I neglected to stuff some rags into the cavity. Lesson learned.

Good advice, I'll be working on that after the driving season is over, which is soon.

Speaking of which, if anyone has a set of 3.55s and would rather go with 3.73, I'll swap.

I just went from 3.73 to 3.27's. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but turned out to make much more drivable. 1st gear is actually usable now. The car is less violent, but is still an animal. I think 3.55 's will give you the best of both worlds.
