So what's your favorite tool or tools for this task.

Rob,
If you cut out the existing FFR molded-in scoop, you will not have a lip to rivet an original SC shape hood scoop to, since the "cut-out" will be almost the same dimension as the outside lip edge of a CSX scoop.
Jig saw with a semi-coarse metal cutting blade, to answer you favorite tool question.

Die grinder with a metal cutting blade:



Take it slow and keep the revs down or you risk melting the gelcoat from heat build-up.

I have the Tristate, and it looks great, but I did have to build a new edge for it as Grumpy stated.
