i cant quite seem to find the exact color i want, chip books are hard because the sample is so small,i have looked through the owners gallery on the ffr website and want it to look somethiing like joe aufiero's car (ffr1000)dark blue yet bright, ford royal blue is also very nice but i wish it was a tad brighter,is there any problem with mixing say a gallon of royal blue with a quart of viper blue??,will it effect the way it lays down with the metallics and pearls in them,i dont mind test mixing small samples until i am satisfied with the color,i just want to know if it can (or should) be done, thanks in advance......vinny

So long as they're the same type of basecoat, no problem. the main thing is color matching. I would personally have the jobber mix say the Royal Blue, the add say 1-2 oz of the same bright blue toner that they put in the viper blue. have them right down exactly how many grams of what xtra stuff they add to the original formula so that in the event of a mishap, you can have a remix done. cheers, SRP

thanks srp,i wanted to get a gallon and a quart anyway so if that turns out to be the ratio for the color i am looking for i will just mix it all together then pour it back into the gallon and quart containers, down the road if i need more i could also buy a quart and a pint and do the mix myself,i feel like ,thanks again.......vinny

Vinny before you go through all that I would just go to a larger paint rep. and ask if you can see the paint chips that are 3"x4" This are actualy painted samples. My supplier has ever color and varation you can imagine. My customers like to take a ring of there color they are interested in and look at in in differant lighting situations. The ring has about 100 variations of that color.
That way you would have a paint code to back-up on.

I had the local paint store mix up a custom pint of paint. He made two labels for me, one that he put on the can and another to file away. I found that I only need 4 OZ of paint for my 3x5' test panel. Painting a big panel really makes a difference. Even when I walked outside the paint store and looked at chips in the sun, they have a different effect on a large panel.

Sorry, I don't have the Lexus paint code. Be careful of what you see on a monitor. Thing look different in real life. When I was picking colors last year I went to dealerships with a notebook. You get the see the color on a whole car and the the color is written on the invoice. You can get the paint code from any paint store as long as you have the color name and vehicle year.
