Gordon is correct about crate vs. custom.

Crate motors are great for people on a limited budget, and for all around use (with occassional visits to the track). But their longevity is reduced if you want to race them every weekend.

Custom engines are designed and built to meet specific customer needs. They are usually built to much better tolerances, and with much better parts.

I originally thought of going with a BB crate motor, but decided to build my own with parts that will meet my needs. It will be more expensive, but it won't be a compromise.
