Who out there has bought a crate motor recently and what are the typical costs I'm looking at? (Cost and horsepower)

With the BIG SALE coming up I'm hoping I can find a deal and need to benchmark pricing and horsepower

KobraKurt,
Street Strip 5.0L / 302 GT-40 320 HP Aluminum Long Block Crate Motor will run you about $2800 from a "good" Ford authorized dealer with a little horse trading with the counter guys, consider'n kicking back the non EFI stuffs. They retail at $3000 all day long so the dealings your baby.

Here's one from EngineFactory . I know they're participating in the sale but don't know if this engine is part of it.

I talked with Chris at the Engine Factory yesterday about a 360HP 302 w/EFI. They are participating in the sale.

I guess I better check the 3 day sale list.

Kurt, I've got the XB3 crate engine, 345hp, $3100 from Gene Evens Ford, free shipping. You'll also need the stuff to make it work with the Mustang pulley set-up, about $200.

What did you need to add to your crate motor to finish it besides pulleys? Throttle Body? Intake Manifold?

We bought a couple 351's from the Engine Factory for the coupes we are building. They have good prices and deliver what they promise.

By-the-way, there are two companies offering deals on engines for the summer sale. Check the listings on Sunday night.

The M-6670-A50 kit from Ford includes dual sump oil pan and pick-up tube (not required in the cobra), dip stick & tube, crank damper, timing pointer, water pump and timing cover. You'll also need: intake, throttle body, injectors, EGR spacer (if using GT-40 intake), distributor, plug wires, headers, heater tube (if you are installing a heater) and probably more stuff I can't remember.
