THose who bought FMS crate engines was the engine block bare or painted? If painted what quality? Has anyone any experience with POR engine paint silver.

My FMS 351 came with a black painted block, all the aluminum was bare.

My 302 E cam motor with aluminum heads was bare as a baby's behind.

Actually, although they claim to have run it for 20 minutes and a dyno pull, I'm starting it tomorrow and I'm going through the drill as if it were a virgin startup. So, by this time tomorrow I should be very happy and the neighbors should be very pissed. I'll report back on the paint issue as long as no parts come out the side.

You just gotta love starting the engine for the first time. The smell the noise (kinkda of like the first date) only a car guy would understand it. Good luck to an uneventful startup. Let me know about that paint.
