I've ordered my ford m-6007-x302 crate motor :)thumbup1:), but I can't seem to find a definitive answer...

Does my '89 5.0 GT have a steel gear or cast?

Don't want to screw this one up due to something that could've been prevented.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, guys...been hearing a few stories of cam/gear failure due to mismatched metals between the two. Hate the thoughts of metal fragments running through a new engine.

Put an X302 in my pal's Ranchero. Runs real strong. It uses FRPP's E303 cam so a stock distributor from an '85 and up 5.0L Mustang will work fine in it.

Good luck with the install...

That's what we ran, 24 lb/hr injectors with a 75mm maf. Runs perfect...
