I was spending too much time running to the house to ask questions on the forum. An old P3 800 and a wireless network, and now I can build and post in the garage. I can also refer to all of the great pictures and topics to help my build along.

Must be rough to have an old P3 800 w/ wireless netwrok as the garage computer. Do you think that "old" computer can handle the stresses of the inernet?

I've been thinking about the same thing with an old Celeron 200.
Another good idea is connecting it to the stereo and make it the MP3 server for your network. I thought about doing that but I don't know if a 200 will play MP3s. If you can you can't do much else.

My thoughts as well. An 'old' P3 indeed!! I'm having to 'make do' with an old P2 laptop in my garage. :D

The P3 800 is old, cause in my line of business I have to stay up to date with decent hardware. Oh, and I already have my 1.4G Athalon in the house serving MP3s to the garage. Music while I work too. I need to quit fooling with the computer and do some more building.

When I built the addition on my shop, I trenched from the house and ran a Gasline, and PVC Conduit stuffed full of CAT5 network cable and cable-TV! Gotta have the Speed Channel and Internet don't I? The gasline runs a 100k BTU Furnace (hey, this is MinneSnowta!)..

My kinda Man-Cave... :D

Heh,heh. Had an OOOOOOLD P120 in the garage networked where I spent many hours visiting the forums and building and updating my build site. I have an OOOOLD P200 mini tower networked in my entertainment center dedicated to my MP3's. My server was an old AMD 700 and just recently built a 1.4 AMD (so the girlfriend and I can duke it out on Team Fortress or Aces High and other network games :D ) One of these days I'll run the cables in the walls and not across the floors.

You guys are a trip. My Compcrap laptop crashed last week for the final time. I haven't been able to update FFCars.com this past week because all of my files are gone! I had to pay some rip off place $500+ to get the data off of the hard drive. Give me a break!

So now I'm shopping for a new laptop for under a grand. Wrong timing (Christmas) but I need something so I can keep the site running when I'm traveling. I hate to say it, but I might buy another compaq because they are so cheap.
