I have a McLeod Bell Housing ,I installed on my engine, and as the clutch cable goes through the flange in the Bell Housing it doesn't line up with the end of the fork. I bought the clutch fork out of the FMS Catalog and it's all that was offered. Has anyone else came accross this ? and if so what did you do? The part # of the fork is E6ZR-7515-AA and it is 11.5" long. Any help with this would be greatly apreceated ,as I would like to install this today .

maybe I am just to cautious ,maybe it will work just fine .

ACE,
Call or email Tom Coker at Mr. Alternator. See "Vendors".
He has a TKO with an awesome custom built 351 and we were just talking about that very problem Saturday. He told me when he first installed it there was a misalignment which caused a bind. He can tell you how to fix your problem. :D

Thanks Jimmy,I think Tom is who told me that when I installed the engine I woud see what he ment about the cluch fork being to short. I thought I had herd somthing about that before. I was just curious though,if anyone else had the same problem with this combination. I also was trying to find out what people have done to remedy this . I wonder if there is a little longer clutch fork one could buy or do I need to lengthen this one

BIG IRON , did you extend your clutch fork an inch? I was thinking that I could make my fork 11.75" long and get away with it,as it is right now my cable is just barely rubbing on the inner side of the bushing . Also I have the clutch quadrent from FORTS,and the cable is rubbing there too! What to do  . I'm definitly going to extend the FORK,just not sure yet exactly how much, maybe 1/2" at the most.
And Thanks For The Pictures BIG IRON

The fork from a '95 GT is approximately 1" longer than that in a '93. It is also weighted on the outside for a smoother shift. It will otherwise be the same as the 93. You might want to try that. We had just the opposite problem 'cause we had the 95 fork and it was too long for the McLeod so we had to use the stock 93. I can't figure why ours is the correct length and yours is too short, but you might give the 95 fork a look over at your Ford dealer.

Well I tried to see if a ford dealer around here had a 95 stang clutch fork,so I could look at one,but no luck . Then I spoke with FMS about the fork that i'm useing, and they said they haven't heard any complaints of premature clutch cable failure,so I will just use it the way it is for now . I may get another clutch fork to extend for another time though. I also ran accross another issue,my clutch quadrant, as the cable comes out of the adjuster hole it rubs at the top,so I thought I would just drill another pivit hole in the qaudrant,a 1/2" above the other one, that put the cable going through the adjuster dead on center, then when I spoke with the people I purchased it from,I was informed that wouldn't work ,because I would then loose clutch travel. Does anybody no of the clutch cable fraying at that end? And at this point,I know I'll have an extra cable in my emergency kit!

Ace - that same thought keeps crossing my mind. I just ordered a new adjustable clutch cable to put in my tool kit. Cheap insurance. Without it if your cable breaks, you are on a flatbed. With a spare, you are only down about 20 min.

Before you do the welding, find a Ford parts warehouse near you and look at that 95 fork. If they don't have one, order it, you can always tell them that you don't want it, they don't care.

My clutch/clutch cable has always had a couple of groans in it when it is being depressed, but I have never figured out what it is. I suspect it is in the cable or there is not enough grease on the throwout bearing. But it scares me enough that I will feel relieved when I have the extra cable in the trunk.

Hey Ace,

Actually in the time it takes to read these posts and then reply you could have extened your existing fork.

Just take a piece of 1/8" x 1" wide flat stock and cut a piece 3" long. Put in your vise and bend it 90 degrees using a ballpeen hammer. Then flip it around and do the same thing on the other side.

Cut your existing fork with a hacksaw and then weld in the extension.

If you don't have welder you may need to do it at a friends house that has a welder.

The whole job does't take 20 minutes.

I have 9,880 miles on mine. No weird sounds no binding, and no worries.

Thanks for the reply's , I don't have a welder, though I do work with someone who does. I'm going back and forth with the body work and the assembly process and sometimes I feel like i'm going in circles, man I hope I can Finnish this car by winter.
