Perri, There is no substitute for chrome. The ceramic coat is aluminum. Both are very good but the ceramic coat is definitely cheaper. As for the chrome turning blue with heat, there is a product called Blue-away that take care of that.
I personaly love the look of chrome and have had my sidepipes done for 18 years with no problems.

Totally a personal prefernce.
I went with the silver ceramic coating. I find my pipes run noticably(sp?) cooler. I'm also going for more of a "road race,non traditional" look and I think the silver pipes go with that.

Go with the ceramic coating. www.jet-hot.com has a coating that is as shinny as polished aluminum
and reduces the temp by 25% ,around 300 degrees. I had Jet-Hot coat the headers on my Dakota black instead of shiny two years ago and they still look new with absolutly no color change.
