I’m currently installing my heat shield and carpet into the cockpit and it occurred to me that there are options in terms of routing the heat shield material and carpet either behind or over the top of the diagonal round brace on the outside of the foot boxes.

My braces are painted black and my carpet is black and it seems as though you would look okay and you would have more foot room if you routed it behind the braces. There also seems to be just enough space to put both behind. If you put it over the top, there would be a big air gap behind some of it, and you are taking away foot room.

The same question or issue seems to also apply to the 90-degree tube in the bottom of the drivers foot box, but in that case there does not seem to be room to put the material under.

Recommendations? What are other people doing? Any pics?

Thanks -- Steve

Thanks guys. That's what I was thinking too, but I had never read or seen anything before that addressed this topic. Behind it will be.
