I really want to drive my cobra to the Shelby tribute this saturday but my car is not driving well. It has a 6 year old 302 Ford crate motor with only a few miles on it. It has an electronic fuel pump. I hate carbs and they hate me, but I have the 4bbl Edelbrock idling now, but when I am driving and push in the clutch and brake the car dies. It normally starts right back up unless the battery is getting tired.
Can anyone give me some hints what might be wrong, or tell me a good place to take it in the Milwaukie/Gladestone area that could tune it?

Thanks, Jim

is the carb level as you look at it from the side? if not the fuel is draining away from the jets and starving out when under braking...BTDT. if it was a holley i could help you. there is good tuning info. online for your carb, goggle the mfg. or "4bbl Edelbrock carb"

Barless is good with carbs on High output engines,

Thats usually atributed to the metering adjustment being too lean. Slowly back them out a little at a time and wait for the engine to respond at an idle. Before any adjustments are made be sure the engine is at operating temp. Does this go away after driving or only within the first couple miles of driving? Do you have a vacuum meter?

it is so hard to drive in town this way that I do not know if it goes away because I can not drive it too long or far. I do make sure it is up to temp. I have a vac gauge but not sure where to hook up or how to use. It has the motosports 303 cam
thanks, Jim
