I have the 302 block bored 30 over with a flat top replacment pistons and the Ford E-303 cam. I want to run the AFR 185 heads and 1.6 roller rockers. Can i do this? Will i have clearance? What chamber head and walves? What kind of roller rockers?

thanks

Eric I think you have to go with the 165's unless you plan on fly cutting the pistons. FMS svo rockers are good. You may have to get a set of taller valve covers as well.

Whatever heads you get you should plan on checking piston to valve with some clay. Fly cutting the pistons isnt very difficult to do if you have to.

The motorsport 1.6 rockers will fit under stock efi valve covers if you remove the baffle.

I happen to have some tall valvecovers and some nice heads for sale too if your interested.

also, i want to take my valve covers off which are the cobra raised lettered ones and polish them then re-install them, will they work with the roller rockers?

i do not want to get into flycutting pistons.

what heads are you selling?

185's will require flycutting for sure. 165's will probably flow enough for you unless you really start cranking up the boost. If you want big valves w/o flycutting, look at the TFS Twisted Wedge (2.02/1.60)

The latest issue of MM&FF (November 2002 issue) has a how-to article on how to measure piston-valve clearance and how to flycut pistons without removing them from the block, using the Isky tool that centers through a valve guide.
