The Sept 05 issue of Popular Hot Rodding magazine has an excellent multi page article about cam and valve train selection. It's really well done, with lots of good test data and real world information. Did you know that a roller cam doesn't always make the best power? Do you know where a roller cam is not a good choice. What's the max rpm for a hydraulic roller? The answers are pretty surprising, and the new technology has changed a lot of things.

Time to get me some new valve springs.

boB,

You've got good timing. I was looking at the lobe specs for Comp Cams and was surprised to see that the hydralic roller lobe is quite lazy at the early opening as compaired to a hydralic flat tappet. So you could put a little more duration in it for more power, and not hurt the lower RPM's too much.
I'll get the mag and see what they say. Thanks

No. It's a cam and valvetrain article only.
