I just got reman calipers for the front, and the SSBC calipers for the rear, so they're clean and in new condition. I want to paint them red. How should I go about it? Just degrease / mask / paint? What paint should I use?

Thanks,
Brendan

A cheap method is sold through Eastwood...

There was a post this week about the m2300k kit.. look for it and look at those. They were powder coated.. real nice if you are going to clean-em a lot!

Duplicolor high heat at your auto parts store. $4.50 for a spray can, will do all four.

I used the duplicacolor as well, they have a high heat up to 1200 degrees if my memory serves me well...let them dry for a day before you flip them over and paint the other side or they will stick. You may want to hang them so you can do all sides at once. I baked mine for 2 hours as the can recommends for maximum heat protection.

Redd,

Those look awesome. What did they charge you to PC the calipers and springs? Or, did you do it yourself?

I used VHT brake paint. It dries wayyyyy faster than the duplicolor crap and it is much more durable. Make sure to degrease the calipers, they are shipped with protectant waz on them.

Wow! I haven't really priced it, but that sounds like a great price for what you get. I see you're in So.Cal...where abouts are you? Who did you take them to for the PC, and how long did it take?

Brent,

I got them done at Olympic Powdercoating in Santa Ana.

The low price for the calipers is a little deceiving because I paid an additional $60 to have them sanded smooth ($60), and the PC shop required that I disassemble them down to their bare castings. This is no big deal for the fronts, but removing the e-brake mechanism from rears was a HUGE pain.

All in all, I'm glad I did it, but would probably not do it again.

Another drawback is that the PC will begin to discolor at about 400F degrees (not problem for my street-only driving).
