I would like to upgrade the bushings in the '91 Thunderbird spindles for my IRS. I have not been successful in finding polyurethane ones anywhere except Vintage Performance Motorcars but these are quite expensive. Anyone had luck eleswhere?

I don't think you'll find them for less. I bought the VP IRS bushings, but found another potential source here (http://www.supercoupeperformance.com/) when it looked like Craig would be b/o'ed.

They have both poly differential and spindle bushings. Not cheap at $45 plus $165, though.

Thanks, Barry. Isn't interesting how much more expensive things are for the Thunderbird when compared with the 5.0 Mustang.

Fred- If you have too, I would recommend waiting a month or two and buy the "expensive" bushings. They will be well worth it down the road. If you have a limited budget, just wait. It is possible to replace the rubber ones after installation (although I would have prefered to do them before- I could not find a source a year and a half ago), but spend a little extra $$ for these- they should firm up the handling. I used the Vintage Performance bushing kit and found it complete except for the lower steel sleeves- which they now include with the kits- I thought it was a fair price for what you will get in the way of handling improvement.

www.mn12performance.com $150.00
www.supercoupeperformance.com $165.00
www.vintageperformancemotorcars.com $89.00

Our initial plan was to keep the price down by reusing the lower sleeves, but they were often damaged if a torch was used to cut off the old bolts. So we decided to raise the price by $10 and make it a complete kit. By the way, we also include the teflon grease that your suppose to use on poly bushings that are not greasable. Our price is cheaper than others for two reasons. 1)These are a must purchase unless your completly tapped out. 2) FFR roadster owners are a frugal bunch of people, me included. We don't advertise on T-bird websites because we do NOT want to take business away from the above companies.

Our shipment of new bushings are in transit. I have the Fed Ex tracking numbers to prove it. We should receive them by monday and hopefully everything is accounted for. Backorders suck, but warehouse fires suck even more.
