Anyone know where's the lowest price on Cobra R wheels these days? I'm after the Ford silver, 5-lug, 17" x 9", 5.95" backspace usual type. Thanks for the help.

I got mine from texasmustang.com, great prices and shipped the same day! They are replicas but they look great!I had them in 2 days. They will send you a great catolog also, full of mustang parts and upgrades.

John,
You might try Gene Evans Ford in Atlanta. I think the website is www.gefracing.com . I believe they have about the lowest price of anyone but I can't remember the price, sorry. They advertise them in most Mustang mags. They sell original Ford Cobra R wheels. If they are the same price as Forte I would go with him though since he supports the forums. Shipping is probably less from GEF for you though.

Also, I know of a few people that call Summit and get them to match the GEF price and get the Summit free shipping as well. Summit will match prices when they advertise the same product in the same magazine. It might be worth a shot.

John,
Barry and I got our wheels from Performance Wheels Inc. . 909-825-5242. Sorry, don't know email but I believe that the silver ones are in the low $500 range and that includes nuts. I could say a lot of things right now but I'll just let it lay.

Thanks,
Ron FFR1738

P.S. Did you get someone to help with the lifting? Let me know if you need a hand.

I got mine off of ebay from AFS, they run rims all the time on there. They have great customer service and it was what they advertised. Not to mention I got them at a great price.
Thanks,

Hey racerx, all the AFS wheels on Ebay say they might have "minor blemishes" but that they aren't very noticeable.

How are yours? Anything bad enough that you wouldn't do it again?

Thanks everybody for your input. I checked some of the sources you suggested but felt most comfortable buying em from Mike Forte, so that's what I did today. $700 for the genuine Cobra R's, 5.95 backspace. BTW, Mike told me Ford stopped making the 6.42 backspace Cobra R's...that's bad for guys who want to upgrade their FFR's with an SN95 rearend, and pop Cobra R's on there with 6.42 backspace to look great with no hassle (I did that to #1152 and loved em). Mike still has some in stock if you need the deeper backspace. I was needing a bunch of other parts too, and Mike took care of me very patiently. Good guy, deserves our support. Thanks again for all the info!

That's here I bought mine. I decided to go with the 'newer' Cobra R wheels. I figure in a couple of years of I need to replace one, it will be easier to get one that is still made then one that has been doscontinued.. Plus, I can barely tell the difference in them unless you have the old and new next to each other. $140 each.

As a different note - I ordered my wheels from Tire Rack. 2 of the tires shipped from Louisiana and 2 from Nevada. Ordered on Monday and they arrived at my house standard UPS on Wednesday. Excellent service.

Go through any 5.0 or Muscle Mustangs mag, find the best price, then call Summit and order through them. They price match, and ship for free. I bought my R-58's for $500 through them a few months back. Stay away from AFS or Performance Wheel Outlet or those other 'replica' wheel manufacturers. I know too many people who have had problems. And wouldn't you want those bad-ass red Cobra R center caps!?! Just my $.02
