I was just wondering the lenght of the belt I can use if I have just the alt, crank, and waterpump, and im using the waterpump thats on the mustang to begin with. I belive its counter clockwise rotation. So I will be laying the belt under the water pump, and then over the alt. So what are the lenghts of the belts people have.

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Mike,
Best bet is to use a piece of string and position it as the belt will go and then measure how long the string is.

I use a piece of wire.

Most string is stretchy. Using string I got close and had to swap a few times. Using wire I can nail the length the first time.

You'll need another pulley to get your system to work. You should use the pulley that comes with the kit and locate in on the A/C compressor bracket on the driver's side. That way, you get the proper wrap and rotation on the stock 302 water pump.

If memory serves, the belt you'll want for that setup is right at 59-60 inches.

Mike:
I have underdrive pulleys so the belt that came with the kit was too long.
I wrapped some wire around the pulleys and idler and got a Goodyear belt that worked really well.
It's part no.4060615
Hope that helps you,
