I saw another thread about a top speed survey and read discussions about the Cobra's high drag coefficient. Every car I've ever seen or read about that is capable of very high top speeds had a fairly smooth underbelly. Since the Cobra underbelly is opened to the engine bay and with exposed frame and suspension components further back, seems like an area where a little effort with aluminum paneling and a rivet gun would pay off nicely. One solution would be to install an air dam, ala spec racers, to divert some of the air away from the belly which could reduce Cd but would also add to the cross sectional area of the car. Thoughts or experience anyone?

The gaping "mouth" also adds quite a bit of turbulance to the front end. I've gone so far as to re-think my intercooler and have it effectively block off the mouth, then make my radiator a bottom breather. This would smooth out the frontal area and not allow as much air to be trapped under that car.
