I am looking for the measurement of the opening on the back of these wheels. I am trying to see what I can fit on the front of my car. I would think that on a 17" wheel, there should be at least 15 to 16" opening on the rim. Thanks, I hope this is not too confusing.

What exactly are you trying to determine. I have 18 wheels and I'd be happy to take some measurements if I knew what you wanted.

I want to know the height of the in board opening on a 17" or 18" wheels. I am trying to see how much clearance I have around the rotors and calipers. If you were to remove a front wheel from your car, set it shiney side down on some cardboard, now measure the diameter of the inside opening. On a 18" wheel, I think it should be around 16 to 17 inches. But I need to confirm this so that I can mock something up to see which wheels I can use. Oldguy668, what wheels are ya runnin?

I'm using these:

It's 18 x 9.5, manufactured by Simmons and purchased fron Group A, Inc.

and unless you plan on front rotors greater than 13" diameter, all 17" and 18" wheels will fit. You need to watch backspace, total width, and rotor clearance.

18's give me the look I want. No other reason. I seriously considered 19's, but tire selection is poor.

Puddy,
Here is a pic of mine, I think you could possibly run 15" rotors in there, although the caliper you use would make a big difference. Good luck.

I know which wheels work well on FFR cars, however mine is not an FFR, but is similar. This is why I need the height of the opening. By telling me which will work unfortunately doesn't help because our cars are not alike. I seem to have a clearance issue with my upper control arm and the bracket that goes between the upper ball joint and spindle. It looks as though a rim with a back space greater than 5" could hit one of these parts. So I have made a small contraption to test differnt size rims and back spaces but I don't know what my minimum clearance height is. So if anyone can measure the back side open area of their 17" or 18" wheel, I will be able to check which wheel will work on my car.
I may be be an inquisitive idiot but lets try again, pretty please.
