I've seen John Lisman's beautiful bracket to adapt the Cobra rear caliper to the IRS knuckle but am wondering if anyone has made their own. I have access to CAD/CAM and a machine shop so would really like to make my own. I am not going into business, just one set for me. Does anyone have measurements or sketches?

Mike,

Thanks. The CAD program (Pretty much any format,.igs, .dwg, or .dxf) would be great. Were the brakes the Cobra brakes or something really big like Wilwood 13"? Either way I'll take what ya got. You can send it to me at [email protected]

Stu,
Be advised, the brackets I had Mike make were to mount the Ford 13" Front Cobra Rotor to the T-Bird IRS spindle, and then utilize WILWOOD 5007 calipers, NOT THE FORD 'STANG IRS CALIPERS. Completely different animals. That's the reason I didn't speak up earlier, John's brackets are the way to go if you want to use the Cobra 'Stang rear calipers, my brackets have NO PROVISION for e-brake setups.

I had a set of custom brackets built by Mike to mount Wilwood 5006,(4 piston, 1.38"dia.), Billet Dynlalites. I have since learned that not all 13" rotors are 13 inches. The brackets I had Mike make will work, but you may have to alter the lower mounting hole from a round hole to a slot, about .020" longer than the 3/8ths hole I spec'd out. I am running Precision Brake Co. 13" slotted rotors from Disc Brakes Australia, the "Gold" rotors. Very nice.

Let me know if you need more info.

Ed,
Vintage Performance Motorcars, Craig and William Mapstone, they are on this site's vendor list. True bolt on, very nicely packaged, works great!! I also recommend the IRS poly bushing kit. They also offer a front bar kit, equally as easy to install, also works great.
