I tried posting on the other forums, but no replies.... Hopefully, you FFR guys won't mind a B&B owner trying to get a little help....
I'm trying to finish up my wiring but I'm a li'l confused about the alternator wiring. I have the 5.0 replacement from NAPA with the two plugs with 3 wires each. My Haywire wiring diagram says that the top plug: I =(top wire) goes to the alternator exciter wire in the wiring harness, S =(mid. wire) goes to the other plug's S (bottom wire) , A =(bottom wire) goes ?? Bottom plug: B+=(top wire) goes to the other B+(middle wire) on the same plug and then goes to the Battery side of the strt. selonoid. and the S =(bottom wire) goes up to the S wire on the top plug as described earlier. Does this sound right? Where does the A wire need to go? I'm running autometer gauges, so do I need the 520 Ohm resistor everyone talks about,if so where does it go? Also, Dura spark dist., MSD digital 6 ignition. Do I need the Ballast resistor? THANKS in advance......

The "A" wire connects to an 18 gauge fusible link which in turn is attached to the battery side of the starter relay. You will need a 500 Ohm resistor. It goes in the "I" wire between the ignition switch and the alternator. If you are using an "alternator inop" light, this is the same wire that the inop light is wired to. Hook the resistor in parallel with the light. If you are using the light, you don't even need the resistor unless the bulb should burn-out.
