I have one that I think Rick picked up after the company I got it from stopped selling it. Some photos of the system.

I also have a MK2 with the AC unit from Northracecars. It works well, but I never use it without the top on. I tend to drive year round because we do not have much other than Spring out here in Northern California. Even when it gets over 100F, I do not use the AC. It makes cold air at the vents and you can stick your fingers in them to cool down. With the hard top on, even without the windows, I can feel the difference with the AC on. I will grab some pictures today for you.
I just figured out why my AC does not work as well as it should. It needed to be recharged. I still do not use it unless the top is on.

Wow thanks for the great sharing. Really helped me know more about air con parts and what not. I have also been trying to find out more about air cons and came across this blog that really helped. Do check it out!

I created my own system using Vintage Air components and the firewall forward option. I had to cut an opening in the firewall to mount the main unit as it resides about half inside the firewall and half outside the fire wall. I also had to fabricate a "box" to enclose the blower motor. I installed all the components then measured the hoses needed and had my local NAPA store make them. I added two vents to the dash and two vents to the under dash console that I also fabricated. I typically point the directional vents in the under dash console to blow cold air into the foot wells. I can honestly say that this set-up makes a huge difference even with no top. I currently live outside Atlanta so I am in a hot/humid environment. I also have the Factory Five wipers installed. As with everything in these cars, it is a tight fit but it works great. Well worth the effort and money to me. I have attached some photos.
