Remember when you were thinking about building your car and all your buddies gave you that “Yeah, sure a kit car….yeah great idea….sure, you can do it, build a car.”
Remember when you got your kit and you wife said “Are you sure you can put this together?”
Remember when you almost cut your finger off trimming the aluminum and your kid said “Are you sure you can do this dad”?”
Remember when you fired it up (and set the timing “by ear”) and your neighbors asked if that was the way it was supposed to sound?
Remember when you went for the first Go Cart ride and parts were falling off as you drove down the street? (Ok maybe that was just me).
Remember the last time you went over to another builders house and gave him or her all that “Support” (Ok, actually Ball bustin’) we all know too well?
Well give them all a call. It’s time to ante up.
Rob Olmsteadt (AKA RacingRob) is “talking about” going to DVSF II. He has all the usual excuses lined up. Well Rob, I will donate 10 cents to Team Jenny for every mile you drive that puppy to DVSF II and back. My best guess its about 600 miles each way plus the rides you give. I will do the same for Dior if he thinks he built a big block that’s up for the long haul! Lets not forget about Eric. Same deal goes for you. You drive out to Ohio and back, 10 cents a mile. (Don’t worry, you won’t get lost. You can follow us). Sorry, no trailers. IMHO you got to be a man (or woman) and drive out and back. Loud pipes, wind in your face, bugs in your hair. At least the first time. After that you can ship the damn car FedX for all I care.
Call your doubting friends and neighbors. The ones that said you would never finish. Your uncle Max who "knew somebody that had a real one" , your wife’s sister who dated a “real mechanic”, your co-worker who said she would be afraid to go for a ride in a “home built car”. Tell them all to put up or shut up. Dollars, dimes or pennies. It all helps.
