A few people mentioned to me that 5.0's are notorious for rear main seal oil leaks. It so happens that my car has a leak which drips where the transmission joins the engine.

Question: if it leaks while sitting in the garage, is it leaking faster when driving down the road? I guess I am wondering if the oil in this leak area is under pressure.

If it's actually a rear main seal leak, then it generally leaks more while running.

However, an oil leak almost anywhere on the engine usually shows up in that very spot. Could be intake manifold, front cover, oil filter boss, oil pressure sender, etc.

Clean the engine really well with Simple Green and hot water. Let it dry. Pour some tracer dye in the engine. Run the engine for just a few minutes, and look for the tracer dye. If you don't see any, run the engine for a few more minutes.

Glen, I have tracer dye and a UV light to trace your oil leak. Don't do anything until you are sure were its coming from.
I have way to much experience with oil leaks.
