Bruce Chervenak is making a 289 "Lemans" body for my FFR mkIV chassis. In between blizzard delays I've been working on gathering parts. Some of these are billet, stainless and Kirkham cool...

Pretty cool. I'm not a huge fan of a curved accelerator pedal, but very pretty. Nice Kirkham porn.

Can I assume you're going with original fiberglass footboxes?

There are actually two styles of throttle pedal - one for the 427SC and the other for the 289 cars.

Check out cobrarestorers.com under pedal box. You'll see 100% accurate reproductions.

Yup. The more I thought about it the more I thought it needed it. I'm sending that throttle assembly up to Bruce so he can check fitment before he makes the boxes. It looks pretty straightforward for that piece. I'll be doing some cutting and welding for sure in those boxes but I think it's going to be pretty cool. The Kirkham pedal box just bolts up to their chassis with the flanges you see there so I'm sure I'll need to modify things a fair amount.

Gas tank. The car will not have a tank in the usual FFR location because it will have a fiberglass trunk pan dropped down into that area.

Is that fuel cell made by RCI?

Yes. Bruce said it fits above the rear diff and clears upper trunk hinges. It will require the factory FFR roll bar mounts to be moved but we're going with a different radius on the roll bar along with a forward brace. So, they have to be moved anyway. A split trunk hinged at the bottom make the hinge clearance a non-issue for this particular build.
