Do you guys see any reason that these cant be removed and plugged at the pump? I want to tap them with a pipe tap and plug them off. the same with the thermo housing. I will put the sender in the other hole in the intake manifold. Any reason i cant eliminate these?

Mike, Are you talking about the two tubes coming out of the top part of the water pump? If so one of them goes to the heater core and the other is the bypass that goes to the manifold. The one for the heater can be plugged. The bypass is a must have. I was having trouble boiling over because I had plugged the bypass off. I hooked it up and no more problems.

You can eliminate the heater return port. Don't eliminate the thermostat bypass hose. Without it the engine will heat up very unevenly because there will be no water flow through the block. The water next to the cylinder heads will get very hot, while the water at the thermostat will stay cool.
