As i get closer and closer to my first start-up i was wondering something. I see a lot of guys prime the oil pump before startup. Is that something that is just done on brand new crate motors or should i do it on my "used" engine also?

Thanks.

Brian,
Make sure you tape the 1/4" deepwell socket to the extension. It would be a serious if it stuck to th nut or worse!! My 302 is counterclockwise, I'm pretty sure yours is as well. It can damage the pump if you put a drill on it and run it real fast in the wrong direction.

Great tip above. Be sure to tape the socket to the extension or you will leave the socket in the engine like I did. It will wedge itself and easily pull the socket off the extension. I dislodged it and used a magnet to retrieve it.
