Bill,

Glad to see you've made it this far ( now the fun really begins !!! ) don't rush things. If you looked things over real good prior to the reassembly ( did you have the trans seperated from the motor, and did you inspect the fly wheel and clutch for burn and wear ? ) how was the pressure plate ? If everything was new I'd say leave it. But what is the question. I had the go cart scare me with 3.55 rear gears in it. It too was unholy !! I was not expecting anything like that, and my 70 Vette couldn't do that on its best day as I remember ( probably why I sold it ) If you are truly worried about future problems, replace them now. Mine were fine so I left them in. Remember as everyone says, The stock Ford parts are designed to work on a 3200 lb Stang, this is a 2000lb rollerskate, parts will last a bit longer, especially the driveline. Ask yourself how often do you plan on replacing the rear set of tires ? now about the clutch ? see where I'm going....If you're gonna smoke the rears every chance you get, replace the clutch, safe bet. Let me know what you decide to do,
We are ready to mount the body, 3402 is all buffed out !!!! WOW is it awsome, will post soon,
congrats Bill, talk to you soon.

Best wishes,
Eric Fraser

Bill,

Did you purchase an adjustable clutch quadrant/ cable set up ? if so, try an adjustment first, it may need to engage sooner.. sounds to me like it dosent want to " bite " or engage 1st untill the cluch is all the way out, no feather action. Hope that is all it is. Also, just for giggles, check your trans fluid type and level, easy mistake, easy fix.

Latter
Eric.
