Hi guys...I am at the point where i need some wheels...I have an MKII with a 3 link..looking at some boyd coddington smoothies..18x8 front and 18x10 back...anyone feel 17's are better?? and what is the proper backspacing needed?? thanks for all the help so far

Here are my "dubs" before powdercoating the centers:



And here they are "ready to run"



Fronts are 18 x 8.5 with 5.5 backspace on SN95 spindles/hubs (255/40-18 tires, 26" OD)

Rears are 18 x 9.5 with 6.5 backspace and a 1/4" spacer (I think 6" backspace would have been better). Rear has Richard Oben's Fox conversion caliper brackets with Ranger axles. (285/40-18 tires, 27.1" OD)

I think 17's are pushin it. The cars are physically small and short. I have 17's and everyone that looks at the car thinks they are 19's. I park my wifes Audi A4 1.8T next to the Cobra and it drawfs it - her car has 17's.
