Brake and Suspension Tech
[/IMG] I have been building a kit car using a Mustang II front end for years now. Originally I had a power steering rack from a 1978 Mustang II. When I moved to New Zealand I started to investigate RHD options. Ford never made a RHD Mustang II Flaming River didn't make a RHD until...
3. Steering Advice: PS, EPAS or EHPS?

Factory Five Roadsters
I'm weighing my options for steering. I'm planning on installing a Coyote motor with a t56 magnum and didn't want to be left with the antiquated manual steering. Early on I had thought I'd go with a flaming river power steering set up, but it seams to be way too expensive. After doing some...
4. Steering tie rod mounting problem

FFR Type 65 Coupe
Anyone come across this problem on the current batch of Coupe parts? I called F5R and they confirm the nylok is correct, no longer using a castle nut and cotter pin for this connection. Ford Modular Engine Roadster Builds
I have been looking at the procedure used in the very nice Mk3Build.com site to adjust the horizontal position of the steering rack. On the site he found his rack was offset to one side by around 0.3 inches. To compensate (and minimize bump steer) he used solid offset aluminum rack bushings to...

Factory Five Roadsters
Can anyone tell me what the size of the Front Steer Rack and Pinion 15.5" or 16"? I am putting in a Flaming River rack and pinion. Also anyone know the length of the steering column? Thanks

10. Steering Pillow Block Offset Plate

Steering Pillow Block Offset Plate

After moving the steering rack back using the Ackerman bushings the steering universal joints were binding so I had to relocate the lower pillow block slightly. This is the offset plate that I made from 3/16" steel plate.
11. Ackerman Drilling

Ackerman Drilling

This photo shows the drill jig in use. It bolts into the stock MkI / MkII rack location and has a bushing to locate a 1/2" drill bit for drilling the X member.
12. Ackerman Mod Drill Jig

Ackerman Mod Drill Jig

This is a simple jig I made to allow the holes for the Ackerman mod to be drilled from the engine side so you don't have to remove the radiator to drill from the other side.
