  1. Edwardbs Gen 3 Type 65 Coyote Coupe #59 Build

    FFR Type 65 Coupe
Wow! Looks fantastic. How is the masking working for the body on painting? I was thinking of trying this. Scott
  2. Coupe Brakes

    FFR Type 65 Coupe
This is what I'm running on my rears (87-88 TC) and are quite happy with. Scott https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ebc-dp21172

Hey Vic. Have you picked up your 289 yet? FFR has a sale on if you have not seen. Cheers. Scott
  4. Revamping the Car lift question

    Factory Five Roadsters
jhargrove. No I was able to get the door to open/close with the lift sitting about a foot back from the opening. My garage ceiling is only 8.5 feet but I can get the cars about 40-45" off the ground with the opener still in place. I can remove the opener and stack 2 low cars giving me room for...
  5. Revamping the Car lift question

    Factory Five Roadsters
I have a 19X19 garage and the smallest 4 post lift Direct Lift makes with the sliding jack. It's tight but I can do most anything with it. Would highly recommend for a small space. Scott
  6. Missing a cylinder - please help me figure why

    Factory Five Roadsters
Any chance the high revs could have sucked out the intake gasket? Any coolant in the oil and/or can you do a coolant system pressure check to see if its leaking into the motor? Weird problem. Best of luck with it. Scott
  7. Ignition Issue

    Factory Five Roadsters
A final update. Dropped in the new MDS and the roadster is running great again. I got some advice from an engine builder to run 15* initial advance on my motor combo with one blue and one small silver spring with the standard bushing for 21* mechanical advance. Car has a nice happy idle at 900...
  8. Ignition Issue

    Factory Five Roadsters
New MSD Fixed the Problem Greg. You Da Man! I pulled the old Crane dist. and replaced with an MSD 8578 and the car runs great. Thanks very much for the help trouble shooting this! What springs are you running in it BTW? I went with the small silver and blue but was thinking about both silver...
  9. Single best upgrade you have done

    Factory Five Roadsters
Yes Mark sells both and they made a big improvement. The lighter spring and the rod ends eliminate the bind in the bushings and allow the suspension to really work. I set the shocks on full soft and then increase a couple of clics at a time until I'm happy with the ride and suspension control...

    Nice Dash!
  11. Single best upgrade you have done

    Factory Five Roadsters
408 kit instead of a stock rebuild, not really that much more money. Kept the same smallish carb so it's quite tame. Second would be rod end RCAs and QA1's greatly improved the ride on a 3-link (Mark sells a package). Scott
  12. Distributor Gear

    Thanks Sean!
  13. Distributor Gear

    Factory Five Roadsters
Can I get confirmation on the correct distributor gear material for a Austempered Ductile Iron Comp roller cam? I think it needs to be steel but would like to double check. Thx. Scott
  14. Ignition Issue

    Factory Five Roadsters
Hey Greg. Thank you very much for this info. I'm going to try your heat trick and see if I can duplicate the problem. I've also still got the old Crane dist that I was thinking about dropping in to see if that would confirm the problem I just need to change out the plug on it to the new style...
  15. Ignition Issue

    Factory Five Roadsters
Thanks Greg. Yes the coil is new, it was the first thing I replaced. The distributor is a Crane billet optical unit that I really like since it has no weights or bushings curves are all set electronically. Don't think they are manufactured any more either. I'm trying to figure out my next step...
  16. Ignition Issue

    Factory Five Roadsters
Thanks John. Unfortunately my motor is carbed with a mechanical pump. Carb seems fine and is full of fuel so am pretty sure its ignition related. I also have some further information. I re-seated all of the HI6 box connections and checked the cap and rotor and all looks good. I went for another...
  17. Ignition Issue

    Factory Five Roadsters
I have an ignition issue that just started. The first occurrence was a brief loss of power (a second or so) and backfire then return to normal. I thought the coil might be dying so ordered a new one but did not install it right away. Second occurrence the roadster is warming up in the driveway...
  18. 3 link adjustments

    Factory Five Roadsters
For the panhard bar I put a 2' level across the tire and then use a measuring tape through one of the wheel windows to measure the distance between the edge of the level and the 4" round tube. Check measurements on both sides and adjust panhard until they are equal. I also have the SA QA1's...
  19. Oil Pressure woes

    Factory Five Roadsters
I'd run a good quality 10w/40 like Brad Penn and filter Mobile 1. I picked up 5 psi just switching filters to one with the larger oil inlet holes. Scott
  20. Walk of shame ... twice!!

    Factory Five Roadsters
I feel your pain. FWIW I keep a 10' by 3" nylon strap in my trunk and loop this over the front 4" cross tube and then have the flatbed guy hook to the strap. I keep my foot on the strap while he winches the car to keep the strap off the body work. Have never had a guy say I can't do it this...
