Thanks for your reply, Bob. Don't have an oil cooler, may need to have tuner set fans up a little bit. Reische recommends fans on at 184-190 and off 176-182. I'll converse with the tuner and maybe try this. Again, thanks!

Will need to do more reading to see if you comment applies to the complete kit pedal box, but I'm thinking if I keep in mind this quote from one of your posts below, I should be going after the right thing...let me know if I'm off base.

    -- John

"By putting the dog leg in the pedal you improve motion of the actuater arm. Remember that it's moving in an arc, not a straight line. With the straight pedal, the actuater point will hit the bottom of the arc at about mid travel. Further travel of the pedal will start moving the point up as well as foreward. That will decrease plunger travel in relation to pedal movement. "

Thanks a bunch. Did a lot more reading and became convinced this will work quite well. I'll stick with the stock brakes that come with the complete kit in front, and tbird brakes and plain rotors in the back. Hawk HPS pads sound like they work well. Clearly with things properly set up that should give me plenty of stopping power.

Appreciate the response and input. I should be more visible on the forum once I start the build in earnest.

Hope you don't mind a PM on IRS rear brakes...talked to two vendors and read many posts, but appreciate your input in all the posts I've read.

To make it short: first time builder, not a car guy but capable, and wise enough to know I need a proven system for brakes, not one I engineer. Car: small block, PS, manual brakes, 99% street, maybe some XC way off in the future. Complete kit brakes in front, IRS option.

I want enough stopping power to feel very safe in a street vehicle, with margin to have brakes not be the weak point if I decide to do some XC. So...with the GT brakes in front and T-bird brakes in back with the right pad compound, do I have more than enough stopping power? Budget can go to Wilwood or other if needed, but I won't do it unless it makes a significant difference.

Thanks - your input is a real resource on virtually all topics on this forum.

Hey, good to hear from you! Thought you dropped off the face of the planet. Or maybe went to the Bahamas. Sorry we missed your retirement party.

Bob, I retired from CSPD on 11-05-11, with the house and all toys paid for. Yesterday we closed on our new home (new to us) in Black Forest. I am now in debt again but plan to pay it off by next Christmas. It even has a seperate garage for the cobra. We will have to get together soon. Buddy

Bob, what happened to your engine to bend the valve, and how much damage did it do? Have you gotten it fixed yet? Buddy
