Hello. Thinking of a MK4 build.

Good morning all. Been following FFR for several years now, and reading the forum posts for awhile. I am seriously considering a MK4 build, kicking off spring 2020. I am gathering my wish list and reading the build manual (4th time now) and watching the numerous videos posted. My wife is encouraging me to do this project, and my son (now 14) is excited to assist. My car, but he may get to drive it, eventually.

So, looking at the complete kit with the 306 engine/trans from BluePrint Engines. Move the shift up to forward position, move the emergency brake to top of tran tunnel. Adjustable seats. Seat warmers. Maybe AC/Heat. Then some mods to quiet the entire car. FFMetal's battery box & firewall modifications. Russ' turn signal & roll bar grommets.

Overall, I think very doable with some planing, patience, and lot of advice from those that have done this before.

Goal is to have a street legal roadster. Currently in Missouri, almost an hour east of Kansas City.

Some concerns with the length of time to build as we are military, and may need to move again in a couple of years. As well as the inspection/registration process in Missouri. I saw a post that provided the Missouri inspection/registration steps. Pretty straight forward, except for the harness/seatbelt issue. Not sure if the harness will pass inspection, and if not, how to get around that? Sounds like the Lee's Summit state patrol site will be the location, as that is 45 minutes away.

Anyways, there it is. Let the madness begin.

Chris

Congrats. You won't regret it.
Good to hear your wife is supportive. When asked if my wife was worried about how much time and money I spent on the build she would reply "well, it's cheaper than a blonde".
