Go get yourself a couple of twenty year olds as a birthday present.

Now, if you sit in a chair and sip scotch while they "entertain" each other, you are old enough to wear the shirt!

If you fall asleep before they do, I'll give you mine!

First, happy birthday! Second, happy birthday to me too! Just turned 57 on Friday. And yes I have an "Old Guys Rule" shirt, the black one with the Willys gasser. And the last time I had a nice scotch was, um, on Saturday night, a nice Balvenie 15.

I felt like I was 19 again on Saturday. Was at a guy's house for a men-only, roasted pig, potato cannon, billiards and horseshoe tourneys, Animal House on the big screen over the pool, and four homebrewed beers type of night. Whoa.

As for the shirt, I figure any age can wear it, just mean's your into old guys and think they rule. Doesn't mean you think your an old guy.

I liked the shirt "The older I get, the faster I was"

I bought one for a friend of mine who in the 70's 80's was at the top of the motocross world. He laughed but I could see it pissed him off. Those A types.....I tell ya!!!!

If "The General" can still stand at attention and still give a snappy salute, then the answer is NO, you are not old enough. My birthday is is 9/19 and I have even had to bust my General down to a Lt. I need about a half dozen of those shirts.

When you're so old you fart dust, you can then wear the T shirt.

I just turned 64 yesterday, Happy B-Day to us Eddie. Dang it's dusty around here.

If you have to eat at a restaurant with the address on the plate to remind you where you are, then I'd say you're old enough!

How's this for showing your age....

Sunday night (7 PM) I email my boss "Can I take Monday afternoon off, my son has Presidents day off and we have no available daycare as original plans fell through?"

Daughter agreed to watch him for half a day and we just needed to cover the afternoon.

No reply. And he does monitor his work email on weekends - goes straight to his IPhone.

Come into work on Monday monring. Go talk to the boss.

Me: "I didn't get a response, did you get my email about taking this afternoon off?

Boss: "Yes I got it, but I'm a little confused. Two months ago you requested, and I approved, today and Tuesday off because your son has no school and you have no daycare plans."

Boss: "Your call"

(BTW - my birthday was Sunday. I forget which birthday, but I am sure it was Sunday)

Unhappy Old is Old is Old

Eddie,

Last time I responded to this thread I was 61 . . . 63 now and have a large collection of "those" shirts, in many colors and designs.

My next shirt is going to say:

I T T Y O W. "Invisible to thirty year old women".

Rule of thumb for old guys is: Half your age +7 . . . so I'm lookin' at 38-40 year olds now. LOL ! Thirty year olds that come up to me want to sit in the car!

Old Guys Rule© || Photo Gallery || User submitted photos from fun loving old guys and old men || Old Men Rule

whaddaya know

i think i'm older than a few of these guys.

i sent an e-mail to the company and i can't wait to see what the "horse's mouth" says!!

i'll post it here and tuck my tail between my legs if need be...

I hope everbody understands that people call me "old" every day of my life… this shirt is a way to embrace it…

maybe it's because I dye my 75% grey hair and don't look old, but I keep doing old-guy things. I forget to close the garage door, I can't divide 77-5/8" in my head when hanging curtain rods, I complain of aches, I am (unwillingly) getting up earlier and earlier on weekends and looking for sh*t to do, bruises don't heal easily, I can't stay out in the sun anymore…

Thread revival.

Planning my 50th Birthday and I thought about this thread.

Everything is grey and everything hurts. The roadster shows less signs of age than I do.

Am I old enough now?

Thank you for bringing this thread back to life. After reading all of it, I am still laughing. Since I am younger (barely) than you, I still cannot say if you can wear the Old Guys Rule shirts yet.

For my 40th, I had my party at Pump It Up. An in door inflatable bounce house place. It was a total blast running around with the parents and the kids. I can also say that after an hour of that movement, I was feeling like a 40 year old. All of the adults were exhausted and felt it the next day. No kids were hurt. All of the adult had vinyl burns from going down the slides in groups.

For my 42nd, I walk around with a towel over my shoulder telling everyone that I was of the age of the "Ultimate question of life, the universe and everything". There is something great about being a dad and by great, I mean embarrassing the kids. Hey, you can live the nerd life and still drive a Cobra.

Then for my 44th, I made the tweens and teens sit through my Little Mermaid party. After years of hosting all of their Disney parties, it was pay back time. I force all of the kids to wear the silly cone hats and sit at the table with Little Mermaid table cloth, plates etc. The adults in the room knew something was up, because all of the kids quietly wore the hats and sat at the table. Then I brought out the little Mermaid. I dyed angel hair pasta red. Had shrimp for the brains. Lychee for the eyes and a red bell pepper cut out for the lips. Then lamb ribs and a large salmon cut to look like a cooked mermaid tail. The adults in the room went, "Gross" and the kids jumped in a devoured it. Sort of like that scene in Galaxy Quest.

As my grandmother (and many others) have said, "Growing old in mandatory. Growing up is optional."

Eddie: I don't know what age qualifies you as old, but when I got my medicare card late last year, I knew I was there. When your employer decides it is time for you to retire, you're old and feel obsolete. You got a head start on most of us by building the Cobra while you were still young. Most of us had to wait till the kids were out of school and we are old. Polish the car and take her out for a cruise, that will make you feel a bit younger, if only for a while.
