Paint ideas

So after building for 8 some years Iím waiting for the painter to open up a spot.
In the meantime Iíve had my paint colors picked out for several years, visible in my avatar. Of course this close to D day you start second guessing yourself.
I bought a model to paint paint choices on so I could see what it would look like so Iíve been spraying and taping and stripping and repeating.
I started with aluminum and red stripes, then painted half the car each time to change it up.

Followed by the same with an extra white accent line.

Beside my avatar scheme Iím not using any of these.
Still working on some other ones
Just thought Iíd share to maybe give some ideas to others.

Enjoy,

John

I'm not usually a fan of the silver class of colors, but the pewter with the red stripes is my favorite of these. It's an unusual color for a coupe and does a nice job of showing the shape!

John, I have always liked your avatar. I think a coupe like that would look spectacular.

Hi John

I have to admit that I am partial to your original plan. Not sure on the white you were thinking of though. That could be even harder to pick than white or silver... Not sure that a bright almost blueish white would look good but I think a slight creamy white would be nice. Then do you go solid or add pearl? If go pearl, I would add it to the stripe also.

In the end, rarely do these cars look bad in any paint scheme, so that is reassuring.

Good luck!

Marc

I like the pewter with red stripes. What about that new Ford Avalanche gray, I almost went with that for my new truck. I think it would look sick on the coupe.

I also like the pewter with red stripes, but I’m glad to see the affirmation on my original scheme.
For the white I’ve been thinking about a white I’ve seen on Lexus vehicles.
It’s what I would describe as an arctic white with almost a blueish tone in it.
It has a fine metallic. The picture gives you an idea but is much more stark white in person.
Black would be shiny and the red accent stripe the same as my frame color.

Then I saw wareaglescott’s cobra that has a grey that looks like a mirror.
Aaaaaaarg decisions decisions!!!!!

And then thereís this color white from Lexus. Itís a little softer and would be perhaps a bit more period correct outside of the metallic. Looks a bit more classy.

Iíd have to compare the two LEXUS whites side by side. We owned a Lexus IS 350 that was the artic White. It looked light blue in some lights and usually when it was next to another white car. It was nice but I see a softer white on the coupe with black stripes.

For silver, I like the Porsche GT Silver.

Iím seriously considering going with a matte charcoal gray metallic, black stripes, red accent stripes, blacked out trim, black wheels, & red knock offs.

This is what I did yesterday.
Gloss black with Matt black stripes and a red outline.
Seen it on a Mustang before.
Might give my avatar a run for the money
