New least favorite part of the build

Insulation. Haven't done carpet yet, but the insulation portion is really stinking so far. I spent most of the evening just trying to trim and fit the driver's footbox with KoolMat. The kickouts in the Mk4 are awesome for foot room, but they are a nightmare for cutting glass fiber under silicone insulation. And using contact cement to secure isn't much fun.

Next kit I do is getting lizard skin sprayed in, no doubt.

Once I get out of the driver's footbox it should speed up. Hopefully. Here's to hoping the carpet lays down much easier.

MKIV Complete Kit(order placed: 4/5/16; order completion: 5/14/16; delivered: 5/24/16): 3-link, PC, cutouts, vintage gauges, glove-box dash, chrome roll bars; 17" wheels, B/T leather seats, wind wings/visors sourced during separate 50/50 sale; side pipes and headers sourced through Gan-n
First start: 6/22/19
Drive train: Levy 408w w/carb, TKO600, Moser 8.8 with 3.55s and GT rear brakes
Paint Plan: Under consideration (probably dark grey/titanium with silver stripes)

I know it's a little after the fact, but I decided to put the cool mat on the panels before I installed them. I marked the overlaps and trimmed accordingly. Carpet hasn't been installed yet, so I may change my tune shortly. Each build has good and bad aspects. It's what makes the car individual to all of the builders. Don't worry, you'll be past this point soon enough and laughing about it.

No worries Silver_pilate the carpet goes down pretty smooth. Foot boxes are tight of course. I have wide shoulders and short arms lol, But the 3M 77 spray glue works like magic! Enjoy.
