Power Steering Lines

Anyone have any tips on how to get this type of power steering hose to slip over barbed fittings? The hose is -6AN and the fittings are the donor '04 Mustang PS cooler lines and the hydroboost return line. I managed to get the lines partially on the cooler, but it doesn't want to slip over the hydroboost barbed fitting. It's rubber reinforced with steel and fabric.

You're not really going to use that to plumb your power steering, are you? That is air brake hose, designed for pressures up to 500psi. Power steering pressures can reach 1,500psi. Air hose is also not designed to carry any kind of fluid.

Whatever hose you use, you also need to buy the matching fittings. You can't just jam whatever hose onto stock fittings.

Call Mark at Breeze, and have him set you up with the hoses and fittings you need.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bob.

I actually got this hose from Holley Performance, sold under the Earl's brand name for power steering applications (along with Earl's hose end fittings - they were very specific about matching the two). Can't see it in the pic, but the text on the hose reads 2250 PSI, and Parker actually lists the hose at 350-3000 for "Petroleum base hydraulic fluids and lubricating oils, diesel fuels and antifreeze solutions."

X2 on calling Mark at Breeze. I got my PS line setup from him. His prices were very reasonable.

The cooler and return lines are not seeing the high pressure - you can use a "regular" piece of hose there which will stretch over the barbs and secure with a hose clamp.
