35 Truck

What do you al think?

For me the bench is a nice feature, but the top is too high, it needs chopping...

Not impressed at all. A genuine opportunity to correct the short comings of the '33 Hot Rod ignored.

It appears that there is a removable dash which remains a major short fall with the '33. That's a positive.

There appears to be no room behind the seats, and a bed that's too shallow to be of any value, so there is no storage. From what I've read the bed is only 9 inches deep, compared to about 17 for the real thing.

The body looks to be as low as the '33, so adding running boards and fenders may reduce the ground clearance so much that the truck is barely practical to drive.

Proper power windows would be a must. FFR has sold over 1000 '33 kits and the power window kit is still inadequate. With framed windows, a precise channel, 5/8 wide by 9/16 deep is needed for a flexible run channel and metal channels inside the door with the same dimensions and enough adjustment so the channels can be aligned the framed area. There also needs to be a 1 inch flange for a sill weatherstrip, like the one sold by Hagan. Without that, water will pour into the door. My '37 fiberglass body came with nothing but a hollow frame area and no channels inside the door. I filled the frame area with bondo glass to create a precise channel. I made my own aluminum channels to fit inside the door, that were secured to the inner door skin, with adjustable threaded rods. You have to figure out how to mount the power window motor and align the window lift, with the window's travel. After the window is operating properly, you can bond a 1" aluminum channel to the door, for the outer sill weatherstrip. It has to held at just the right distance from the window, along it's entire length. I spent about 80 hours per door to get the windows working. There were times when I considered having non-operable windows, glued into place.

I wouldn't use a curved glass windshield in a truck. Custom made curved glass is expensive and if the source dries up, you're in trouble. I also prefer a rubber gasket around the edge of the glass. It makes installation and replacement much easier. Flat laminated safety glass can be cut by a number of sources and it's far less expensive.

I like the year, that it is a pickup, otherwise don't get me started on what could have been done better. Not going to go there.

oh btw, the door handles are backwards......really! come on FFR you couldn't get that right....geez!

When you go to the page that tells you what you get in the kit it says you get a trunk with liner and a pair of black bucket seats, I thought there was a bench seat.

Bench seats in either leather or vinyl are optional with pricing yet to be determined.

Raised the truck bed somewhat...

Seems that must be relatively easy to do....

Jeff, Is there a list of options somewhere that I missed, or did someone at FFR tell you about the bench seat being an option. I'm hoping there are some fenders available, one, because I like fenders and two, because I believe I won't be able to register it in my state unless it has fenders. Thanks

BigUgly

Roll up windows, bench seat and full fenders will be available options.

WIS89 and andreast thanked this.

Thanks for that info David. I was hoping the next vehicle released by FFR was a 4 seater so that my wife and I could take our two grandkids along for rides with us. At least with a bench seat I could take the two grandkids in the truck.
