#998 Has Arrived

Well... After years of planning and lurking, #998 is finally here. Almost. Stage 1 arrived on Thursday and I spent Friday night and Saturday doing inventory. The only back orders were the LS pipes. However, I discovered that instead of deleting the rear control arms, FFR shipped them and deleted the front suspension. I made a phone call on Friday and hopefully that is being corrected.

First Question of Many to Come.

I spent Saturday and Sunday painting rear calipers and rotors. Does anyone know if the mounts for the quad shocks will to be in the way or do they need to be removed?

Welcome! #997 here in San Antonio. Every time I see a new builder in TX I get excited, then I realize how big this state is

FWIW, I tend to hang out on the other forum more, but pop back in here occasionally.

Yeah. It's hard to imagine that you are almost 5 hours from here but just over a third of the way across the state.

Congrats. Must be a bunch of new builds in Texas. 40% of my orders have gone there since the first part of the year. I'll be in the Austin/Houston area in July or August.

Congrats!

I'm waiting to hear from Stewart now. He was supposed to call Monday, then yesterday and still waiting to hear! Killing me!

Number 998? What are the chances that mine is number 1000?!

Thanks Tim. Your parts arrived today. I can't wait to get home and open them up. I'm about 90 miles East of Houston.

Yours must be on a different truck. Mine was the last one off the truck then he was headed back East. Maybe yours will be #1000.

Mine is the first delivery on the next run. So not necessarily in purchase order though. But in easiest delivery. I hopefully will know beginning of next week. Still waiting on the call.

What town you in? Beaumont area? Orange? I'm just east of you. South of Baton Rouge.

You have about the same chance as I do for being number 1000. Mine completes on this Saturday and will probably be going out on the same shipment as yours. I am in Frisco Texas just north of Dallas.

Austin/Houston area covers about 170 miles of space... You going to be driving between them? Are you coming for work or pleasure?

I am between Beaumont and Orange, in Nederland. About 10 miles off of the Gulf of Mexico.

We'll see! Mine is officially on the truck and on the way. Scheduled to be here Sunday morning 9 am. First stop on this load of 8. I'll make sure to post up my number Sunday when I get settled.

Never been to Nederland. But remotely familiar with the area. My dads family is from orange and starks and venton area on the LA side of the line.

Haha that it is.

I went to Australia several years ago. Ended up in a bar in cairns drinking with a chick from that was raised about 7 miles from me. Next day, at a roadside eatery, met a dude from Baton Rouge right up the road. Very small world.

Mine is 1002. Tim, since completed after me, I imagine yours will be after that. But oh so close!

I'll post a new thread and pics later.

Ok...... I found out that my rear trailing arms and coil overs from Dan Ruth should arrive tomorrow and the front suspension from FFR should arrive on Thursday. Looks like I'll have plenty to do this weekend.

I completed the rear axle install, mocked up the front suspension, then blew it apart and took every thing to powder coat this morning.

Just got my 33 today. The truck driver said he had to drop two cars off in Texas then headed this way. Maybe one of them was yours. I had a little damage on my front powdercoat where it looks like something rubbed about 1" of PC off...

My S/N is 1001. The paperwork originally showed 1000. They changed it to 1001. Maybe they were keeping #1000 reserved?

I have to travel for 2 weeks coming up for work so I only have 2 days with my new fun

Mine actually arrived on 4/27. The truck driver told me at that time that the four most popular destinations for these cars are Arizona, Florida, Texas, and California. Not necessarily in that order. Must be the weather?

I spent the weekend installing Delrin front control arm bushing set from Tim Whittaker (Kootenai Valley Customs). These bushings are a vast improvement over the FF setup. The installation is a bit of a process, but well worth the effort. If you want a bind free suspension, I highly recommend these bushings.

Interesting! What was the process? Need a press or something?

You have to drill the control arm sleeve and bushing to accept a roll pin, which along with epoxy anchors the bushing to the control arm. The inner bushing sleeve is captured by the mount tabs on the frame and pivots inside the Delrin bushing. As a result you can move the control arm through it's entire range of motion with one finger. Pretty slick.

Lucky?

I finished assembling the front suspension this weekend after burying 80 ft. of air line to supply air from my shop to the garage. I don't know if I'm just lucky or if FF has made some improvements to the kits. The ball joint boots seem to be in good shape, the castle nuts went on perfectly, and the hubs slid on the spindles like they belong there. After a year of reading the issues encountered by others, I was more than a little apprehensive. Oh well, it's all good now. On to the front brakes.
TxMike64 thanked this.

I'm planning my rear brake lines today - I see you kept the calipers at back and stock lines (few do it seems); what are your plans for running line to chassis? how will you run the parking brake line? Just curious to see everyone's solution..
